Overview
A 10-acre elementary school campus in San Pablo, California, developed with Gates Studio for the West Contra Costa school district. Exterior design organizes the campus around native planting and butterfly and bird habitat, learning gardens and outdoor classrooms, edible and multisensory planting, and a rain flume and chain interpreting the water cycle. The project progressed through Conceptual Master Planning, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents.
My contribution
- —Collaborated with the architects on the campus design approach.
- —Developed exterior themes and programming, including native planting and habitat, learning gardens and outdoor classrooms, edible and multisensory planting, and a rain flume and chain interpreting the water cycle.
